Aagard group receives grant for customized training with Alex Tech 5/26/2006

Thousands of medical professionals, manufacturers and mortgage lenders in Minnesota will receive customized workplace training through 10 grants awarded by the Minnesota Job Skills Partnership Program (MJSP).

One of the recipients is the Aagard Group-Alexandria Technical College, which received $36,115.

Located in Alexandria, the Aagard Group designs, engineers and manufactures automated machinery for various markets and customers. It is currently building a new facility that is part of the JOBZ program.

The grant will support development of its customized Aagard Production System; 60 employees will receive continuous training in the Aagard system and learn how to integrate continuous improvement tools into the system to sustain company growth.

The Aagard Group has a Web site at www.aagard.com. Local contact is Chad Coauette, dean of customized training, Alexandria Technical College, (320) 762-4403.

The 10 grants totaled more than $3 million and will assist more than 4,500 workers, according to the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED).

“Important economic development initiatives that cross regions and the state’s most important industries, and the collective capacity-building within the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system have clearly resulted in one of the strongest grant rounds in the history of this program,” said Acting Commissioner Ward Einess, Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development.
