Job Description

Position Objective:         

  • To assist in providing a culture that facilitates engineering machine designs that redefine the standard for performance and value.

Minimum Requirements:


Title

Minimum Years Experience Required with BSME Degree or equivalent

Mechanical Designer 1
(Entry level - Detailer)

  1. Learn how to use the basic Aagard software tools for mechanical design.
  2. Introduction to standards, fabrication, assembly, and the mechanical design process.
  3. Focus on detailing.
  • Entry level position, requiring knowledge and understanding of basic engineering and mechanical concepts and procedures
  • Ability to modify existing designs
  • Ability to use established policies and procedures to complete work assignments

Mechanical Designer 2
(Assistant Designer)

  1. Build understanding of the business and customers.
  2. Expand CAD knowledge by learning part selection, sizing, specification, compliance, customer and vendor relations, and service.
  3. Main focus is on learning about different types of machines and traveling to customer plants.
  4. Assist designers throughout the design process.
  • Ability to modify and/or improve existing designs
  • Ability to appropriately apply engineering principles and concepts
  • Ability to draw solutions from both training and experience
  • Ability to plan and perform engineering duties for a part of a project under general direction
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time

 

Mechanical Designer 3
(Mechanical Design Lead)

  1. Responsible for the mechanical implementation of the machine to defined requirements and concepts.
  2. Perform mechanical design from defined concepts, working with electrical design, controls, assembly, and through the setup and testing of machines.
  • Ability to develop designs or improve existing designs
  • Demonstrate creativity and ingenuity in applying engineering principles and practices
  • Abilty to draw solutions from a wider range of experience
  • Demonstrate proficiency in solving problems in a timely manner
  • Ability to accept assignments broad in nature
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Ability to define technical approaches to projects
  • Ability to lead projects and guide lower level engineers and technicians
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time

 

  • Experience in servo driven packaging machinery preferred.
  • Ability to efficiently use computer design/drafting software to develop and detail machine designs.
  • Knowledge of material types and properties and purchased parts used in automated equipment.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to visualize concepts.
  • Capability of identifying risk areas and the ability to effectively minimize risks through prototyping and preliminary testing.
  • Understanding of standard manufacturing tolerances, tolerance stack up, and best value tolerances.
Ability to communicate with a variety of people both verbally and in writing, including presentation skills.
